So Many Cameras, So Little Time

Examples of the quality equipment available
Well, I revamped my camera line-up with the Canon 5D and the Olympus E-PL2, but I still have to get more acquainted with the 5D as that will be my main. I went out shooting Sunday with the 5D and for the life of me I could not figure out why my shutter speed kept hitting 8000+. Duh! On the way home I checked my ISO and realized I set it to 1600 for an earlier low light project. I am so use to the 50D and the 7D having the ISO on the LCD and the back screen I just forgot about it since it is not on the 5D LCD or back screen. Live and learn. I do have to say, I agree with everyone who says “once you go full frame, you’ll be spoiled”. I really notice the difference in depth of field, field of view, and the 5D even at 12MP is razor sharp with the Tamron 28-75 2.8. I heard lukewarm reviews of the 28-75 2.8, but mine is very sharp, even wide open. I still have to go through my film cameras this year, but I will probably only use the 5D for the rest of the month to get used to it, then go back to my film cameras and the FinePix F600 (which I carry when I use my film cameras), till I cycle through them for the year. Film cameras left to use before end of year:

  • Yashica GSN rangefinder
  • Canon EOS 88/3000
  • Canon EOS Elan/ 100 35mm SLR
  • Canon FTb
  • Yashica FX-3 Super 2000
