I have been in a period of equilibrium since I re-bought the XSi and got the 18-135 IS. There are other lenses I want to buy but nothing really beats the 18-135, with it's combination quality and versatility. I thought about the 17-85, but similar optics-less reach. The 15-85; better optics but the variable aperture, at that price turns me off. For a couple hundred more you can get a constant aperture lens like the Sigma 17-50 OS or the Canon 17-55 IS. I feel the burn to buy something but I am really happy with the 18-135 and my 50mm 1.8. My next big purchase will be a 50D or the 17-55 IS. I also might get the sigma 30mm or a Canon 35mm for a true 50mm view.
Right now, I see myself with this lens collection before I start saving for a 17-55.
