Fun with metering
A great moon was out a couple weeks ago and I whipped out my 70-300mm to shoot it. The moon kept overexposing, and it gave me a chance to play with the a500’s metering settings for the first time. Normally, I use evaluative metering because I take a lot of architecture and landscapes, not many portraits. This was the first time I really saw the difference between the 3 metering modes so clearly. Below is the moon with evaluative, center-weighted, and spot metering, I probably should have gone to manual because I wanted the moon and the clouds, but by choosing the preset metering settings I had to choose one or the other.
